From Lisa Day's Local Review - April 2009
Business and Community Impressions: WOW. Have you heard about the
new public market coming to Wenatchee? I have been working with developers from Bellingham, who own the
Pybus Steel building, located at the end of Orondo Street across from Gold’s Gym. There are three
buildings on Worthen Street, and buildable pads to the north and south of the main structures. The big
ugly building that currently sits on Worthen Street will go away. What will remain is a fantastic
18,000 sf clear span structure which will house small business stalls -- think Pike Place Market
in Seattle! There has also been an interest in a micro brew house and pizza joint in the building closest
to the park. Can you imagine finally having a place to sit outside while enjoying the Loop Trail and
Columbia River?
I recently attended a meeting at The Port of Chelan County where almost 100 people showed
up in support of a Public Market, in this location. The City of Wenatchee, The Port, and private businesses
and organizations are working closely together to see this dream become a reality. Please email me
lisa@lisaday.com if you would like more information, or if you would
like to be on the list for future public meetings.
