From Lisa Day's Local Review - December 2008
Wenatchee Impressions: The media presents an aura of doom and gloom
with reports of higher gas prices, falling commodities, and talk of a "depression." Yet, daily I meet
with people in our community with a positive spin on our local economy. Mary Woods, proprietor of the
Kitchen Sync, indicates that her store’s sales are on target for 2008.
When I was in JC Penney last Sunday, people were standing in line at the cash register to make purchases.
Four national companies have built or are building new businesses in our community – Sonic, Jack in the Box,
Discount Tire, and Marriott Summerhill Suites. We must be doing something right!
